Hope House and supporters welcome Brooke’s Place
Celebration was on the agenda in Covington when the Children’s Advocacy Center at Hope House welcomed Brooke’s Place at the Oscar J. Tolmas Charitable Trust Campus in late August.
The new facility, located next door to Hope House’s existing headquarters, will substantially increase the organization’s capacity to serve victims of child abuse and their families from St. Tammany and Washington parishes. Brooke’s Place will provide a more private, comfortable and child-centered environment, while simultaneously allowing complex forensic interviews involving multiple agencies; accommodate more therapy sessions in the original Hope House space; and reduce the amount of time families wait to receive critical services.
The expansion will also provide additional space for community education and the child abuse prevention training of adults, another important arm of the Hope House/Advocacy Center mission.
Representing an investment of $800,000, celebrants said the almost 2,200-square-foot project has been funded primarily by donors. The design is by MSH Architects and construction by CM Combs Construction LLC.
