COAST Members Lining Up for the New Lacombe Senior Center

The Grand Opening is coming fast for the new St. Tammany Council on Aging Facility in Lacombe, LA. designed by MSH and constructed by Voelkel McWilliams, this facility will serve as the new Activity Center in Lacombe as well as the Transportation Center for the entire Parish. The Times Picayune has published an article discussing the new facilities and features interviews with staff and locals.

“As soon as COAST staff members flicked on the lights and turned the lock to open the doors of the Council on Aging St. Tammany’s newly relocated activity center in Lacombe, members showed up by the dozens, eager to sip coffee, play games and exercise in the new space.

“We absolutely love the new space and couldn’t wait to see it,” said Lacombe resident and COAST member Pam Hernandez, 70. “We came during construction and signed and dated our names in the wall so we are officially a part of the place.”

Located on La. 434, south of Interstate 12, the center is part of a three-acre site that includes a transportation hub to house the 33 vehicles used for COAST services, as well as the vehicles for STAR Transit, an on-demand transportation system that COAST operates for St. Tammany Parish.”
